Simply put, equestrian employment is using horses for working, recreational and practical purposes. Some call it equestrianism, but the two basically mean the same thing. The “equestrian” term has been around for ages. It takes in a person's skill at riding and driving horses. Equestrian employment is also understood as the use of horses in competitive sports. Then again, some people understand equestrian employment as the hiring of individuals to fill equestrian-related posts.

With more and more people expressing their love of horses, the equestrian population has likewise grown considerably. This is especially true in America, where the scope of equestrian employment has significantly broadened. Equestrian colleges have popped up everywhere, keeping the horse industry busy constantly drafting equestrian employment personnel that would cater to those who have opted to turn their passions into full-blown careers.

Equestrian Employment – The ‘Hard Work’ that Horses Do

Equestrian employment as it relates to horses includes various activities. For instance, horses get trained first before they are ridden and signed up for competitions. Here, horse employment training deals with either exposure to practical ranch work or several competitive sports.

The activities include dressage, eventing, endurance racing, reigning, show jumping, vaulting, horse racing, rodeo, polo, driving and tent pegging. Animals involved in these contests perform movements that originate from various disciplines.

Take the mules and donkeys for example, these two are primarily involved in recreational pursuits like fox hunting, hacking and trail riding. Public use of horse trails is often allowed. Horse employment takes a step further with horses being involved in different therapeutic causes like para-equestrian contests and other non-competitive horse-riding sprees. These two activities are geared toward human health improvement and emotional maturity enhancement.

Not all equestrian employment has to do with horses joining competitions. Some animals are put to work pulling carriages, farming, participating in exhibitions along with other historical reenactment rituals. Countries across the globe each have their unique take on equestrian jobs and usage of horses.

Equestrian Employment and People

For people, equestrian employment has to do with equestrian jobs tied in with horses. People need to determine where they might excel in relation to equestrian employment. They have to keep in mind certain activities.

* Horse racing – Humans are “addicted” to testing horses' speeds. Horseracing offers a way of deciding which horses are capable of outrunning the rest of its rivals. Horseracing and gambling frequently go together. Spectators bet on animals based on who they think can hit the highest recorded speed.


* Horse trainer – As trainers, people should allow horses to recognize their superiority as their masters. The trainers are in command. They call the shots in practicing the horses' skills and essentially disciplining or training them.


* Horse rider – Equestrian employment here is linked to the Olympic discipline. People are employed as riders, competing with delegates representing other countries. The horses used must bear particular fields of specialization. Movements need to be executed with ease.


* Horse rearing – Horses count among the common animals raised and bred. Ranches located worldwide see to this type of stuff. Anyone interested in rearing and breeding horses needs to secure the proper training for them.


* Racing secretary – People occupying this position provide administrative support to horse trainers. The job could include payroll, office management, bookkeeping and other administration tasks.

The choices for horse employment positions are numerous. People just have to discover where their fulfillment lies along with where they can do extremely well. The right equestrian employment career is out there, people simply have to put in the effort to find it.
